King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) is partnering with sirar by stc to bolster the cybersecurity of its sprawling smart city infrastructure, a move that highlights the growing demand for advanced digital defenses in Saudi Arabia’s rapidly developing urban centers. The collaboration will leverage sirar’s expertise in AI-driven cyber defense to create a comprehensive security framework for KAFD’s digital ecosystem.

The agreement taps into sirar’s nationally Tier-1 licensed Managed Detection and Response (MDR) center, which provides around-the-clock monitoring to protect KAFD’s critical systems. This partnership goes beyond safeguarding core operational technology, extending protection to the district’s wide array of smart devices. Sirar’s AI-powered solutions will secure everything from Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and control systems to public wireless networks, ensuring the safety and reliability of mobility, lighting, and building management systems.

KAFD, a 1.6-million-square-meter business and lifestyle destination, has grown to host 19 regional headquarters and over 140 office tenants since its launch in 2008. The district features Riyadh’s largest metro station and a Guinness World Record-holding network of climate-controlled skywalks. With a monorail system scheduled to open in 2027, the district’s technological footprint is expanding, making advanced cybersecurity a priority.

A Growing Market for Digital Security

The partnership underscores a broader trend in the kingdom’s digital transformation. According to KAFD DMC’s Chief Governance and Risk Officer Abdulelah Altayeb, Saudi Arabia’s cybersecurity market is valued at roughly $3.78 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow by 13% annually over the next five years.

“Our collaboration with sirar by stc reflects our commitment to continuously strengthening our digital capabilities,” said Altayeb. “This partnership will ensure a secure, future-ready environment for our tenants and partners.”

Sirar’s Chief Commercial Officer Sharaf Alzahrani echoed this sentiment, stating that the collaboration “underscores our unwavering commitment to enhancing operational security, particularly in smart and highly advanced sectors.”

Both entities aim to support the kingdom’s vision of becoming a global financial, lifestyle, and technology hub by building resilient smart infrastructure that can adapt to evolving digital challenges and support secure transformation.
