The future of global event security took centre stage at the Intersec 2025 Security Leader’s Summit, held in Dubai. The two-day event brought together a distinguished gathering of security professionals, industry leaders, and government officials to address the evolving challenges and opportunities in safeguarding major international events.

Discussions at the summit encompassed a wide range of critical security domains, including venue security, transportation, client group protection, cybersecurity, and border management.

Regina Dagueva, Chairman Advisor of the Safety & Security Operations Committee (SSOC) in Qatar, provided valuable insights into the evolving security landscape. Drawing on her extensive experience in securing major events, including the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup and the Paris 2024 Olympics, Dagueva highlighted the pivotal role of technology in enhancing threat detection and response capabilities.

“The next five years will witness a significant transformation in the security landscape,” Dagueva stated. “Technological advancements will undoubtedly enhance our ability to anticipate and mitigate threats. However, this evolving landscape also presents new challenges, including the need to adapt to rapidly changing geopolitical scenarios and emerging threats.”

The summit also explored the broader implications of security in today’s interconnected world. Discussions encompassed inclusive community security, securing global supply chains, post-conflict reconstruction, and the ethical considerations surrounding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in security applications.

Grant Tuchten, Portfolio Director at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, the organizers of Intersec, emphasized the critical role of the summit in fostering collaboration and driving innovation within the global security industry. “Intersec provides a unique platform for industry leaders to connect, share knowledge, and address the pressing security challenges of our time,” he stated.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Intersec 2025 is a leading global platform for the security and fire protection industry. The event, which concludes on Thursday, January 16th, brings together over 1,200 exhibitors from 61 countries and attracts a diverse audience of over 52,000 attendees.

The summit served as a timely reminder of the ever-evolving nature of security threats and the critical need for continuous innovation, collaboration, and adaptability to effectively address these challenges in an increasingly interconnected world.
